10 Classroom Respect Boosters

Simple, everyday interactions can increase the level of respect in the classroom. Mentors can encourage their mentees to help boost the level of respect in their classrooms.
Students
- Say “thank you” when your teacher hands you papers.
- Compliment each others’ work.
- Hold doors for people.
- Help each other and share supplies.
- Follow directions right away.
Teachers
- Speak to guests and other staff respectfully.
- Affirm students for a wide variety of strengths directly and in front of others.
- Before activities, ask, “How will you talk and act with respect in this activity?”
- Affirm respectful behaviors.
- E-mail or call parents when their children have done something especially respectful and thoughtful.
