Throw in a deck of cards to your mentoring bag and you have an easy way to review math facts. You may remember playing WAR with cards when you were a child. You can make this game more educational by following these suggestions after children are able to identify their numbers. Split the deck of cards in half. You and your child turn over a card and either ADD, SUBTRACT or MULTIPLY the two numbers that are showing….this will depend on the skill level of your child and should be determined prior to starting your game. The first person who answers the math problem gets to keep both cards. If there is a tie, you should have a “war” and the winner gets to keep the cards.
