After reviewing the lives of several persons who decided to live their lives sold out to serving others in Jesus name, Chan ends with the above heading for the last chapter.
He makes several insightful statements or questions which I will post for your reflection;
“Am I loving my neighbor and my God by living where I live, by driving what I drive, and by talking how I talk?”
“The point is that there is another alternative to the individualism, selfishness, and materialism of the American Dream.”
“Most of us use I’m waiting for God to reveal His calling on my life as a means of avoiding action.”
“Jesus said, If you love me, you will obey what I command. This sort of matter-of-fact obedience is part of what it means to live a life of faith.”
Chan’s final question was very convicting to me, “IS THIS WHAT I WANT TO BE DOING WHEN CHRIST COMES BACK?”
I’m letting all of these challenges soak into my soul and see how the Holy Spirit will use them to move me away from the American Dream and into greater service in the kingdom.
