If you asked me a year ago where we would be having Director Trainings this fall, Georgia would not have been at the top of the list. Heck, it would not have even made the bottom of the list.
You see, we did not have a single KHUSA partnership in the entire state, or even a significant lead for that matter. And yet here I am today, taking care of the final details of our upcoming Oct.31-Nov.1 training in Atlanta. How you ask?
Through word of mouth, KHUSA pastors and directors sharing with others, Perimeter Church (Johns Creek, GA) learned about and decided to launch a KHUSA partnership. So this past spring leaders from Perimeter (along with leaders from two church networks; Unite! and the Noonday Baptist Association) crossed the border from Georgia into South Carolina for Director Training. Two days later they crossed back over the border with a passion to spread the word about KHUSA. These leaders invited area churches to informational meetings, spoke to church networks, and shared the program with area schools. In essence, they simply went out and told everyone they knew about why and how their church planned on changing the lives of neighborhood children.
And it worked! At the end of this month as the first ever group of KHUSA mentors from Georgia enter their neighborhood KHUSA partnership school and meet their mentee for the first time, the KHUSA training team will be standing before a new batch of Georgia KHUSA Directors teaching them to do the same.
We celebrate this ambassador team in GA, and others all over the country working to bring hope and love to the at-risk children of their community.
