Miss D is in the 2nd year of mentoring her student, Peyton who is now
in the 3rd grade. After a recent hour spent with Peyton in which the two of them made a craft from seashells that Miss D brought back from a recent trip to the beach, Peyton said, “I feel like my life is changing!” When asked to explain this, Peyton said, “I finally get to do fun stuff like other kids get to do.” Peyton then informed Miss D that she is keeping a memory box with all of the items from their times together, such as the programs from the plays, crafts, and pictures that they’ve drawn. Hearing how much all these things mean to Peyton, nearly brought Miss D to tears.
